Let's enjoy and experience Japanses traditional culture in the Hama-rikyu Gardens.
The experimental program of Japanese flower arrangement (Ikebana), Edo Sashimono and Kimono dressing. will be held at the Hama-rikyu Gardens for foreign visitors. This is a valuable opportunity to come in contact with traditional culture in a Japanese traditional garden well-known as a “metropolitan oasis.” Guidance is available in English and we will hand out the manual in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.

[ Japanese flower arrangement (Ikebana) ]
We carry out explanation about Japanese flower arrangement called “Kado or Ikebana” and you can experience it. After the instructor arranged flowers as sample, the participant arranges flowers each along the sample. After the workshop, you can take a picture and take flowers home with you.

[ Edo Sashimono ]
Sashimono, the art of traditional Japanese joinery, refers to the creation of items used in everyday life, such as boxes, shelves, desks and dressers, by using a woodworking ruler to measure boards and then fitting them snugly together. In this workshop, we will use these techniques to make wooden chopsticks.

[ Kimono dressing ]
Once dressed, you will be able to walk around Hama-rikyu Gardens in Japanese clothes which are furisode(long-sleeved kimono), casual kimono for female, monpuku(crested kimono) for male and kimono for children.
